An overview of use

Exemplar  1

 PGCE(M)-PCE.

Institution: University of Wolverhampton

e-Portfolio context:

90 full time students each year since 2007

60 credits at L6 and 60 at L7

5/6 members of staff per year

Dates of provision:

2004 with 1 tutor group, re-validated and embedded in 2007 across the whole programme

Reason for implementation:

Part of pilot study in 2004 and a key member of staff was convinced by the transformative potential for reflective and collaborative learning. The course was used to portfolio ways of working and had used paper dialogue journals previously. The team wanted to ‘test’ the technology to see if it could enhance and extend what we were doing already.

Purpose/s:Learning, Teaching and Assessment. PDP

Learning processes involved:

Pre-induction (later Spring/Summer) a programme webfolio with blog is shared with incoming cohort, this is to support and model collaborative exchange, problem-solving and to create the expectation for learning and engagement in this manner. This is continued into the induction week where students create their own blogs, copy a template and have access to a tutor webfolio and blog.

Practice: Fully developed

Key staff involved:
Julie Hughes, Cathie Lacey, Julie Barron, David Wise, Rob Smith and Victoria Wright
